Overview
A radio controlled flying wing built within the Aerodesign student group.
The planform is a delta, a triangle swept back from the nose. The long root chord leaves room inside for the battery and the receiver, and the shape holds its stability across a wide range of speeds.
Two surfaces on the trailing edge do the work that an elevator and ailerons would normally split between them. Moving both the same way makes the aircraft climb or descend. Moving them in opposite directions rolls it.
The propeller sits behind the wing, which keeps the air reaching the leading edge undisturbed and shifts weight toward the rear.
The profiles were drawn in SolidWorks. The airframe was cut and assembled by hand in foam, with standard radio control electronics.
